The DHI method, also known as “Direct Hair Transplant” serves as an alternative to the FUE method, this approach involves a team of trained specialists operating the “Choi Implanter Pen” to implant the grafts into the recipient area. Originating from South Korea, the pen is a light, convenient device that is able to holster the graft in place and inject it into the scalp with all-out accuracy. Think of it as a normal pen, but it dispenses hair instead of ink! STEPS OF DHI PROCEDURE

1) GRAFT EXTRACTION

Just like the FUE method, the grafts are extracted via micro-motor punches delivered one by one by a device. After being extracted from the donor region, the grafts are ready for plantation.

2) DIRECT IMPLANTATION

The implanter pens are adjusted appropriately to the patient’s specifications. After the follicles are extracted from the donor site, they are fitted into the Choi Pens situated at the very tip for transplantation. The surgeons take turns in using the pens and inserting them into the recepient area. In order to achieve natural results, the follicles are planted into the scalp at a corresponding and precise angle. During the operation, technicians make use of an average of 4 to 5 pens to ensure the fluidity of the process. During the channel opening process which is also when the grafts are being planted, patients may expect a significantly lower amount of inflammation.
